Must Watch Movies For Intense Foodies

You know you love food. Well here's a list of movies to watch while devouring your favourite meals!

The Hundred-Foot Journey

One of my personal favourites. When an Indian family relocates to France and opens their restaurant right in front of a Michelin Star owned by a French family, disputes begin and rivalry predominates the area. Produced by Academy Award winner for best direction, Steven Spielberg, and media executive, Oprah Winfrey, this movie will leave you in awe and give you a taste of flavour from opposing cuisines.

Ratatouille

This 2007 Disney film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Lovely for kids and delicious for adults, individuals of all ages can watch this stunning animation movie. Its plot begins with a rat who is separated from his

family. His passion for food and cooking takes him all the

way to Paris where he meets a young garbage boy, Linguini,

who attempts to mend a soup he accidentally ruins. Remy the

rat hides under Linguini's toque and guides him when in the kitchen, making Linguini popular among the other chefs.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

When Flint Lockwood, a passionate wannabe-scientist living on a sardine-based island, invents a machine which transforms water into food, Shallow Falls becomes a successful tourist destination. All seems absolutely perfect for this young boy and his city until a flaw in the machine is noticed.

The Founder

This 2016 drama, which a combination of slight comedy, is based on the foundation of the major worldwide, fast-food chain: McDonalds. When Ray-Kroc, an unsuccessful salesman, stumbles upon a walk-up restaurant that is bustling with life, he turns it into a franchise. Maurice "Mac" and Richard "Dick" McDonald are both brothers who own this restaurant, and with their cooking skills and ideas, in collaboration with Ray-Kroc, the franchise becomes one of the biggest in America. However, with the turn of events in the brothers' fortune, this tale tells complications leading to both success and failure.

East Side Sushi

Mexican-American single mother, Juana, lives in California and is unsuccessful in almost every business and restaurant she works in/at. However, her dicing and slicing speed is quicker than anyone else's. Osaka, a Japanese restaurant, hires her when her father's cart is robbed. She develops numerous skills that teach her how to make traditional Japanese sushi, as well as designing her own signature dishes which become extremely popular. This American movie is inspirational and has won various awards.

Christmas With A View

Christmas With A View is a magical Christmas movie about Clara who isn't remarkably excited about a new head chef at Thunder Mountain's ski resort where she works. However, he is a popular celebrity chef who has a lot more in common with her.

Super Size Me

This academy Award winning documentary transformed the way the that individuals eat, and showed the harmful effects on physical and mental wellbeing. Morgan Spurlock took up a diet where he ate every meal at a McDonald's restaurant. This experiment caused numerous problems in his health which he reported and recorded throughout his journey. He created specific rules such as the amount of calories he must eat.

What The Health

Another documentary film that depicts the harm of some eating habits and types of foods. This film advocated for vegetarianism and veganism, showing how many meat, fish and dairy products are really detrimental for humans and the health problems associated with them. Follow Kip Andersen interviewing numerous dieticians and health organisations, discussing the link between meat-based diets and health diseases.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory

Based on Roald Dhal's famous and popular novel, Johnny Depp stars as Willy Wonka who owns Wonka Candy Company. After the factory's access is shut down for many years, Wonka declares a competition in which golden tickets are hidden in 5 chocolate bars. Whoever finds them is grated special entry to visit the company with one other guest. The 5 winners include, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Mike Teavee, and Charlie Bucket. Explore the magical and mysterious factory, and follow Charlie Bucket's journey along with his cheerful Grandpa Joe.

Harry Potter

The magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter has completely revolutionised the modern world, and almost everyone is a fan of the novels and movies. This spectacular series isn't food based, but sweets and treats are definitely predominant and special. From chocolate frogs jumping around the Hogwart's Express, to every candy in Honeydukes, the Harry Potter world consists of more delicious treats than what unfortunately actually exist. But, watch this movie to discover your childhood again, and indulge in magic and fantasy.
